Privacy Policy
We run a deliberately low-data site. No tracking cookies, no ad retargeting, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
Who We Are
InfraredTested (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) is an independent affiliate review site operating at infraredtested.com. We publish reviews of infrared wellness devices — red light therapy masks, panels, sauna blankets, PEMF mats — and earn commissions when readers buy products through our links.
This Privacy Policy covers the website at infraredtested.com and any sub-pages. It takes effect on the date shown above.
Information We Collect
Information you give us
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect the email address you provide. If you email us or submit a contact form, we collect your email address and whatever you write in the message. That’s it. No phone number, no mailing address, no credit card. We don’t ask for them and we don’t want them.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our analytics tool (Umami) records anonymous, aggregated data about the visit: the page you viewed, the site that referred you, your browser type, your rough country or region, and the approximate time of the visit. Umami is cookieless and does not collect personal data. It does not fingerprint you or follow you across other websites.
Your IP address is processed briefly to generate country-level stats and is then discarded. We do not store raw IP addresses.
What we do NOT do
- We do not use tracking cookies.
- We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any ad retargeting network.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.
- We do not build user profiles or targeting segments.
How We Use Information
We use the small amount of information we collect for three narrow purposes:
- To reply to you. If you email us, we read your message and respond.
- To send the newsletter — only if you’ve signed up, and only until you unsubscribe.
- To improve our content. Aggregate analytics (e.g., “this review gets more traffic than that one”) help us decide what to write next.
Third Parties
A few third-party services touch your data as you browse the site:
- Umami Cloud — our analytics provider. EU-based, GDPR compliant, cookieless, no personal data collected.
- Google Fonts and Fontshare — font CDNs. They may log your IP address when your browser requests a font file. We have no control over their retention.
- Amazon Associates — when you click an affiliate link to Amazon, Amazon tracks that click using their own cookies and tag system. Once you land on Amazon, Amazon’s privacy policy applies, not ours.
- Other affiliate networks — we are adding direct brand partners (including programs on AWIN, Impact, and Rakuten). Once you click through, that retailer’s privacy practices govern what happens on their site.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites you reach through our links.
Data Retention
- Newsletter emails — kept until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribing removes you from the list.
- Contact form and email messages — retained for up to 2 years for reference, then deleted.
- Server logs — any server-side access logs are rotated and discarded within 30 days.
- Umami analytics — aggregate stats only; no individual browsing history is stored.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you (which, for most visitors, is nothing).
- Correct any data we hold that’s inaccurate.
- Delete your data — including removal from the newsletter and deletion of any email correspondence.
- Opt out of the newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We’ll respond within a reasonable time and always within the windows required by applicable law.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you extra rights: to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any “sale” of personal information. We do not sell personal information — we never have. To make a CCPA request, email us at [email protected] with “CCPA Request” in the subject line.
GDPR (Visitors in the EU/UK)
For visitors in the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland, our lawful bases for processing are:
- Legitimate interest for cookieless, aggregated analytics — no personal data is involved, and the processing is minimal and necessary to operate the site.
- Consent for the newsletter — you only receive it if you sign up, and you can withdraw consent any time by unsubscribing.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children’s Privacy
InfraredTested is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, in line with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has submitted data to us, email us and we’ll delete it promptly.
Updates to This Policy
If we change anything meaningful, we’ll update the “Effective” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, post a notice on the site. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
