How Affiliate Links Work

When you click an affiliate link on InfraredTested.com and make a purchase, a tracking cookie is placed in your browser by the retailer or affiliate network. If you complete a purchase within the cookie window (typically 24 hours to 30 days depending on the program), we receive a commission on that sale.

• You pay the same price whether you use our affiliate link or go directly to the retailer. Our commission comes from the retailer, not from you.
• We never inflate prices or recommend inferior products to earn higher commissions.
• If a product we don't have an affiliate relationship with is the best option, we will still recommend it and link to it without an affiliate tag.

How We Maintain Editorial Independence

Our editorial process is designed to prevent affiliate considerations from influencing our recommendations:

• Testing before partnerships. We test and score devices before establishing any affiliate relationship with the brand. Our testing protocol is completed before we even check whether an affiliate program exists.
• Standardized scoring. Every device is rated using the same weighted scoring system (Performance 40%, Build Quality 20%, Safety 20%, Value 20%). Scores are based on measured data, not subjective opinion or commission rates.
• Negative reviews published. If a device performs poorly in testing, we publish that review. We do not suppress negative findings to maintain affiliate relationships.
• No pay-for-play. Brands cannot pay for placement in our rankings, "best of" lists, or comparison tables. All rankings are determined by our composite testing scores.
• Disclosure everywhere. Every page on our site includes a clear affiliate disclosure banner. Individual product links are identified as affiliate links where required.

Review Units & Complimentary Products

In some cases, brands send us devices for review at no cost. When this occurs, we disclose it clearly in the review. Receiving a free product does not guarantee a positive review. Our testing protocol and scoring methodology remain identical regardless of whether we purchased the device or received it for review.

We purchase the majority of our test devices at retail price using revenue generated by the site. This ensures we experience the same purchasing process as our readers, including shipping, packaging, customer service interactions, and return policies.
